Summer Win with TPS car winners collect new motor

Simon and Pepi Holman, owners of Warminster based Heytesbury MOT and Service Centre, won a brand new Volkswagen Golf S TDi worth over £17,000 in our national 'Summer Win with TPS' competition and prize draw.

Simon and Pepi, who have been customers of Yeovil TPS for over four years, were recently presented with their prize by the TPS team at Loders Motor Group in Yeovil, based on the Lynx Trading Estate.

Commenting on the competition, Ann Rose-Powers, Yeovil TPS Telesales Supervisor, said: "We're one of 60 nationwide Centres specialising in supplying Volkswagen Group Genuine Parts^™ to trade businesses and lots of these businesses were being entered into the 'Summer Win with TPS' competition. Simon and Pepi's monthly order was just short of making them eligible for the draw, so I called them up and suggested they order some extra wiper blades, so that they would be entered, and as a result they won the car, so it was money well spent!"

Oldham TPS Now Open!

On Thursday 20th of January 2011, the Oldham TPS Team welcomed over 50 customers and guests to attend their grand opening night @ Watts Street, Chadderton, Oldham.

John Fickling (Brand Manager), Nick Grimwood (Key Account Manager), Raj Singh (Site Supervisor) and colleagues celebrated this unique opening night by presenting the lucky prize draw winners of the recent ”Oldham TPS Christmas Prize Draw Promotion“.

• 1st Prize of a Sony Brava 32” LCD Television was won by Paul Megson of Summit Service Station (124793)
• 2nd Prize of a Sony Play Station went to Paul McGarry of Middleton MOT Centre (161095)

A total of 13 prizes were presented to the lucky winners, who were customers that had purchased over £20 (or multiples thereof) on a single invoice between 29th November and 18th December, gaining entry into the Oldham TPS Christmas Prize Draw.

John Fickling took the opportunity of thanking every customer for their business and highlighted why Oldham TPS is a “unique, customer focused business that is totally dedicated to the local independent service repair centres”.

He also challenged any customer to contact him personally or the Oldham TPS Team and to feel comfortable to provide any feedback now or in the future, as to how we can continue to improve the level of service they receive on a daily basis.

During the celebrations, some other spot prizes were also won by both customers and by TPS colleagues in attendance: A meal for two at a local restaurant in Oldham, Snap-On tool vouchers, bottle of champagne.

The night was a real success and will certainly assist Oldham TPS in building some long term relationships, which in turn will increase the sales turnover in the coming weeks and months.

Volkswagen Group UK issues warning over potentially dangerous counterfeit brake pads

Vehicle repairers, retailers and consumers are being warned to be extremely vigilant when purchasing car parts following a recent seizure of a quantity of unsafe counterfeit brake pads by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment’s Trading Standards Service and An Garda Síochana.

The counterfeit brake pads that are branded as Volkswagen Genuine Parts were seized at properties in Belfast, Dublin, Galway, Mayo, Donegal and Armagh.

An examination of the brake pads revealed that the potentially dangerous counterfeit parts failed to meet the required braking friction levels and were only held together with glue. The test demonstrated that the friction material can disconnect from the metal backing plate which can then cause subsurface corrosion or frost shattering. Worst case the friction material could completely fall off the backing plate. The test concluded that the counterfeit parts would not obtain 'R90 approval' - the European legal standard for brake pads. In elements of the testing the counterfeit parts were found to have 30% lower braking efficiency than the Volkswagen Genuine Part.

Genuine parts guarantee performance, quality and peace of mind. Consumers should use reputable dealers and repairers, and if they are concerned should ask that only Genuine Parts are fitted.

If a retailer, car-repairer or consumer has purchased Volkswagen Group Branded brake pads and they are concerned, they can look out for the following tell-tale signs:

• The counterfeit parts box label indicates that the product is a 'Wasserpumpe' and not brake pads. Wasserpumpe is German for water pump.
• Printing error on counterfeit parts box reads 'Fonnel Q', but should read 'Formel Q'.
• The backing plate of the counterfeit brake pads is engraved with 'TAXTE' or 'TEXTA', whereas the genuine part is engraved with 'TEXTAR'.
• No fitting instructions were included in the box.
• The tamper proof seal on the box is missing.
• The counterfeit parts do not have a batch code or production date.
• The performance of the counterfeit product is significantly lower than the genuine brake pads.

The Institute of Transport Management (ITM) maintains an ongoing monitoring programme for all sectors of the transport industry in its work to encourage best practice. The accreditations bestowed by the Awards Committee reward high performance in key criteria: customer service, innovation, value-for-money, product and service quality and overall professionalism. The process for accreditation involves the collation of detailed information on the major players in the sector, including quantitative data and member feedback, followed by exhaustive analysis and the production of a final shortlist for presentation to the Committee. After due consideration, a winner is selected to receive an official ITM Award and attendant publicity as a reward for its contribution to the transport industry.

For the accreditation series 2011, the Institute is hereby pleased to announce that Volkswagen Group UK has succeeded in scooping the ‘Aftermarket Company of the Year’ title, as in previous years. The company continues to lead the way in providing for garages, fast-fit centres and other businesses requiring quality parts in good time and at a fair price. The pioneering Trade Parts Specialists (TPS) network set up in 2006 was designed to deliver a complete one-stop five-brand solution at a local level and continues to do just that, as well as expanding and refining its revolutionary service to the aftermarket sector as part of the third phase of its evolution.

The TPS network consists of 57 Centres staffed by 700 trade specialists who are trained to the highest industry standards. Each Centre has passed a thorough vetting process to ensure a quality of service which lives up to Volkswagen’s demanding corporate philosophy. The Centres operate on a local basis in order to meet the needs of the surrounding community, especially in terms of stockholding - supply being tied closely to demand via an automated, overnight delivery system. A uniformly excellent standard of performance is maintained across the network through a specialist, real-time Trade Parts Management System (TPMS) which enables complete control over such aspects of the TPS operations as stock holding, special offers and logistical resources. Furthermore, an ongoing price watch scheme is used to set parts pricing and promotion at competitive levels. Perhaps most importantly, Volkswagen recognizes the necessity of a positive working environment, running a ‘TPS Heroes’ reward scheme to encourage exceptional product knowledge and customer service. TPS Parts Club Update Guide: Effective 5th May 2009

In this latest update Guide you will find 180 competitively priced part numbers covering 581 popular applications for Audi, SEAT, Škoda and Volkswagen passenger car and Commercial Vehicles.

This Guide replaces the TPS Parts Club Application Guide dated 26th January 2009 for pricing information, although you may still use January’s guide for application details.

For the complete catalogue of TPS Parts Club parts, applications and the latest prices, view TPS Parts Club Catalogue in the Quick Links section. There you’ll find the many fast-moving parts featured in our printed guides and more besides. 1,800-plus parts in total, and all easily searchable by part group, part number or vehicle model.

The Update Guide will be available from your local TPS Centre from 6th May, however, if you are in any doubt over the correct part number or would like a quote for a particular application, please call the dedicated trade specialists in your local TPS Centre now.

Volkswagen TPS scores with Audi

A new AM Magazine parts comparison survey confirms the TPS Network’s ultra-competitive prices for Audi Original Parts.

Back in October 2007 AM Magazine proclaimed that the Volkswagen Group TPS Network had “blown away the price advantages that the aftermarket has always had.”

In that survey AM Magazine looked only at parts for Volkswagen models. In their second survey featuring TPS prices, AM Magazine filled up its shopping basket with Audi parts and was equally impressed.*

So if you’re still convinced that TPS prices aren’t as competitive as continental specialists and independent factors AM’s survey is a must-read.

Our TPS programme hit another key milestone with the launch of Swindon TPS this morning.

London North TPS opens today

The first of 5 new TPS Centres in the London area opened its doors today. This makes a successful roll out of the 1st new TPS centres open for buiness in London. George Constantinou, TPS Manager at the new London North TPS said ‘we are proud to be the 1st TPS centre to open in London. It has been very hard work, but our customers will soon see the great benefits’

The fast-growing national TPS network has taken another big step forward with the opening of four further TPS Centres as part of the rollout. Liverpool and Wolverhampton started trading in the first week of June, with Medway and Edinburgh opening their doors on 12 and 19 June respectively.

TPS pioneer centres lead the way

All four of our ‘pioneer’ TPS centres – Derby, Bristol, Yeovil and Norwich – are now fully operational. The TPS centres, the first of their kind in Europe, are open six days a week to serve the needs of local  independent motor repairers and also national account outlets (fast-fit centres, insurance groups, fleet operators and rental operations) in their sales areas.
